Korean relief workers and search and rescue teams have begun their mission in Nepal. The Himalayan country was devastated by a series of earthquakes over the weekend, causing many casualties.

Five relief workers and ten rescuers arrived in Kathmandu on April 28. They received a briefing on details regarding the current situation at the Nepalese military's disaster response headquarters. Later, they were assigned to the city of Bhaktapur, near the capital, and started their rescue work there.

The rescuers will create a report based on their mission goals for the follow-up team of an additional 30 rescuers who will be dispatched to Nepal on May 1. The rescue team will discuss the location of their rescue operations and their duties undertaken with rescuers from other nations and from the U.N., closely cooperating with the Nepalese government.
