The smart classroom project is an extension of the ministry's Official Development Assistance (ODA) plans. Between 2011 and 2014, the ministry shared its experiences and technologies related to digital education with nine countries, including Brunei, Colombia, Indonesia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Azerbaijan, Sri Lanka and Paraguay.

As part of the program, Korea offered educational materials, such as electronic white boards and lecterns and laptops for students, to the countries, differing the materials for each education system. To sustain the program, experts were dispatched and training lectures were given to teachers on how to create and develop educational content for smart classrooms. The educational programs have garnered positive reviews in terms of the improvement of and the quality of the educational systems.

The Ministry of Education plans to continue to carry out projects to establish smart classrooms, train experts and to support lecture content and materials.
