Seoul International Hiking Club organised hikes every Saturday and includes people from both the foreign and local communities. Everyone is welcome.
This Saturday, (Feb. 21), we will go for a hike along the skyway of Bugaksan.
The skyway, once a favorite drive course of young dating couples, is hidden in the mountain behind the Blue House, Korean Presidential Residence. Serving to our purpose, it also has a good side path covered with environtment-friendly materials. We will walk along the way looking over Seoul--start from Gyeongbok Palace and decline to ambassadors' residence area.
How to get there: Line 3, Gyeongbokgung Station (St# 327)
Where we meet: Just inside Gyeongbokgung Station near Exit 2
When: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, (Feb. 21), 2009
What we will do: Hike on Bugaksan and walk along the skyway. We will start at Chang-ui-mun (Chang-ui Gate) and proceed in the direction towards Seongbukdong, an area well-known for ambassadors' residences. We'll stop by a buddist temple that was donated to a spiritual monk by a gisaeng, Korean geisya. Then we will have a meal and tea at a traditional restaurant which used to be a famous novelist's house. This hike, including the meal, will take about 6 hours. Cost: Each person will pay for their own meal.
If you plan to come, please email sihclub@gmail.com before Saturday morning so we can have an idea of how many people will join the hike.
Contact Jeong-ho at 016 246 9261 or Hank Chay at 010 8423 0123 in case you are late on Saturday. Please wear proper hiking footwear.
