Cinema-K, Korean Film Night in June will screen 4TH PLACE, director Jung Ji-woo’s poetic and engrossing drama about a boy (Joon-ho)’s love and passion for swimming against the backdrop of the competitive environment that Korean children grow up in.
Condemning the underlying sadism of a competitive educational culture, which destroys children’s talents by denying them their right to do something just for fun, 4TH PLACE will make you question whether Joon-ho’s mum is being selfish for pushing her son so hard or is she raising him to survive in a harsh world.
4TH PLACE was an opening film of the Korean Film Festival in 2016.
