On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and Turkiye and the National Foundation Day, the Korean Embassy in Turkiye held a National Day event at 6:30 pm on the 4th of October at the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel in Ankara.
More than 700 people attended the event, including Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu, President of the Turkiye-Korea Friendship Association Abdullah Guler, Turkiye Defense Representative, diplomatic corps and international organizations representatives, veterans, and overseas Koreans.
The first part of the official event consisted of a screening of a sand art promotional video showing the relationship between the two countries, the Korean language school students chanting the two countries' songs, the ambassador's welcome speech, and the congratulatory speech of the guest of honor Adil Karaismailoglu.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Wonik Lee emphasized that this year marks the 65th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a strategic partnership based on friendly relations between two countries. And he said, “I hope that through this event, which is designed as a high-quality hanbok fashion show to commemorate the National Foundation Day and Hangeul Day, and to reflect Turkiye’s high interest in K-Culture, the attendees will understand Korea more and deepen their affection for Korea”.
Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu said “The close ties between the two countries, celebrating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties, have a history of centuries and were consolidated through the Korean War.” In addition, he emphasized that the 1915 Canakkale Bridge, which opened in March, is the longest suspension bridge in the world and said, “I hope that large-scale infrastructure projects between the two countries will be further activated in the future.”
After the official event, in the second part, Hanbok designer Lee Seo-yoon was invited to hold a world-famous hanbok fashion show event. Famous hanbok designer Seoyoon Lee presented Hanbok, a representative K-brand, on stage with traditional Korean dance and traditional music in a fusion design that combines tradition and modernism.
In addition, 'AESIRA', the winner of the 2022 K-POP World Festival, heated up the atmosphere of the event by covering PSY's 'That That' and BTS' 'IDOL' as the opening stage.
