In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Korea-U.S. alliance and the 120th anniversary of Korean American immigration, the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Director Sangwon Jung) hosted the ‘49th Korean American Experience Workshop for LAPD’ on Thursday, February 16, 2023. 

The LAPD workshop was conducted in collaboration with the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau and includes specialized lectures designed to educate police officers on Korean culture and history, as well as the unique characteristics of the Korean American community here in Los Angeles.  The lectures cover a wide variety of topics, including “Understanding Korea’s Past and Present”, “Overview of Korean American History and Community,” “Protecting and Serving the Korean American Community,” and “Understanding Korean Society”. Participants were also treated to Korean food and traditional music performances. 

In total, more than thirty officers from six different divisions of the West Bureau participated in the educational workshop.
