Events at KCCs abroad

The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. hosted the closing event of "TDC 69: A Global Typography Exhibition" on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The event was part of Art Walk Dupont, a local monthly cultural event, and was attended by more than 250 local visitors who enjoyed the extended hours of the exhibition, a special lecture on typography, and a light reception.

Type Directors Club (TDC), a design arts organization, was founded in Manhattan in 1946 to promote the excellence of typography. To further the development of lettering and typeface design, the organization holds an annual competition to select outstanding work that reflects the latest trends in typographic design. The exhibition featured around 100 works including the latest winners of the 69th TDC Typography Competition as well as Korean language design works. Starting with a collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center in Washington, D.C., the winning artworks will be traveling to other major cities around the world.

To celebrate the successful conclusion of the exhibition, which has been running since November 2023, TDC Director Carol Wahler and typographic design expert Alan Wahler gave a special lecture detailing the history of typographic design and introducing the TDC competition winning works. After the lecture and Q&A session, visitors were given a tour of the exhibition.
