The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Director Sang-won Jung) successfully hosted Story Up Shorts in Los Angeles on August 28 at the center’s Ari Hall in collaboration with the CJ Cultural Foundation (Chairman Jae-hyun Lee). This event showcased films by emerging Korean film directors.
The screening will feature three films: Forest of Echoes (2023) by director Yoo-ri Lim, which was officially invited for the La Cinef section at the 77th Cannes Film Festival; Light It Up at 2 AM (2022) by director Jong-seok Yoo, which won the Watcha’s Pick: Short at the 23rd Jeonju International Film Festival and Best short film at the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Award; and Slaughter (2023) by director Do-young Yun, which received the Special Jury Prize in the Korean competition at the 41st Busan International Short Film Festival.
Director Yoo-ri Lim of Forest of Echoes attended the event and had a meaningful interaction with the local audience.
Director Sang-won Jung of the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles commented, “This event was significant in providing a platform for emerging directors to connect with local audiences. We will continue to support the young filmmakers in sharing their voices with the public.”
Meanwhile, the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles plans to continue promoting Korean cinema locally, with upcoming events such as the K-Cinema Touring Program featuring Director Gyu-dong Min in September.
