This week, 10 February, the K-Food Academy 2025 began its much-anticipated Intensive Course with an inspiring and flavorful start. Hosted by the Korean Cultural Centre SA (KCCSA), this immersive program promises to take culinary enthusiasts on a five-week journey through the diverse world of Korean cuisine.
The opening day was filled with energy as participants introduced themselves, shared their culinary backgrounds, and connected with fellow food lovers. This collaborative environment sets the tone for a unique learning experience where skills, creativity, and friendships are nurtured in equal measure.
Under the expert guidance of chef Christine Bae, participants immediately got hands-on in the kitchen, starting with the beloved Korean classic—Bibimbap. With its vibrant array of colors and dynamic flavors, Bibimbap is the perfect introduction to the delicate balance of ingredients that Korean cuisine is known for. The kitchen buzzed with excitement as the participants rolled up their sleeves to perfect their cooking technique, from ingredient balance to precise plating.
Chef Bae’s enthusiasm and expertise provided a solid foundation as the participants delved into the first lesson of the course, mastering both traditional and contemporary methods. Over the next five weeks, they will explore various aspects of Korean cooking, including iconic dishes, sauces, and even trending foods from Korea’s temple and street food culture.
"We are thrilled to welcome this year’s participants and to share the rich flavors and traditions of Korean cuisine," said Chef Christine Bae. "Our goal is to create an engaging and educational experience for everyone, whether you're a professional chef or a food lover looking to expand your culinary repertoire."
The K-Food Academy 2025 Intensive Course promises a comprehensive culinary journey, with each week dedicated to different key aspects of Korean cuisine, including:

The excitement continues to build as the program unfolds, and the Korean Cultural Centre looks forward to seeing the creativity and talent of its participants shine in the weeks to come.
