"K-POP World Festival 2018 - Sweden Preliminary"
I. Overview of Sweden Preliminary
- Time/Date: 16:00, Saturday, June 9, 2018
- Venue: Maximteatern (address: Karlaplan 4, 114 60 Stockholm)
- Type of Performance: Vocal performance, Dance performance
- Qualification:
(1) In principle, residents in Sweden are eligible for participation, except Korean nationality holders and those who grew up in Korean families. In case of uncertainty, feel free to contact us(Please see item VII, below).
(2) Participants for the Sweden Preliminary will be selected by the judging panel(organized by the embassy), following review of applications(Please see item III, below).
II. Application
- How to apply: Fill in the application form(attached) and send it to us via email: kculture.se@mofa.go.kr
- Application deadline: 17:00, Monday, May 21, 2018
III. Selection of participants for Sweden Preliminary
- A total of sixteen teams would be selected for performing at the Sweden Preliminary: 8 teams for vocal performance, and another 8 teams for dance performance.
(*Note: The number of selected teams can change, subject to circumstances such as the quality of performances.)
- Selection of participants for Sweden Preliminary will be made based on applications, on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. The result will be published the next day.

- The selection will be made by the judging panel organized by the embassy, according to the following criteria:
(1) For Vocal performances:
· 60%: Vocal Power
· 20%: Clarity & Accuracy of Lyrics(Expression and pronunciation)
· 20%: Stage Charisma
(2) For Dance performances:
· 40%: Choreography(Composition & Uniformity)
· 30%: Technique
· 30%: Stage Charisma
(*Note: Extra points would be added to performances(vocal/dance) using latest songs.)
IV. Information on Further Schedule after the Sweden Preliminary
- The result of Sweden Preliminary will be sent to KBS(Korea Broadcasting System), the main organizer of the 2018 K-Pop World Festival, as soon as possible, within a week following the Sweden Preliminary.
- Selection of participants for the main competition(by KBS): Following the first and second reviews, a total of 12 to 14 teams will be selected as the participants for the main competition. The selection result will be released in the mid August.
- Schedule regarding the main competition
(1) main competition: Friday, October 5, 2018 in Changwon City.
(2) Participants’ preparation for travel to Korea: mid August – Mid September
(3) Period of stay in Korea: September 24 to October 7, 2018 (two weeks)
(* Note: The dates mentioned above are all subject to change. Changes, if any, will be informed to participants without delay.)
V. Additional Notice to Participants in the Main Competition(October 5, 2018, in Changwon, Republic of Korea)
- Vocal performance: When the vocal performance team includes backup dancers, up to two backup dancers are allowed to travel as members of the team. If there are multiple vocalists in the team all the vocalists can travel, provided that each vocalist performs a significant part of the song.
- Dance performance: When the dance performance team has more members than the original K-Pop group, the number of the group member needs to be adjusted. The maximum number of members of a performance group who can travel to Korea for the main competition is limited to that of the original K-Pop group.
