Meet & Greet with the poet Yong-Mee Cho (Stockholm University)
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea held "Meet and Greet with Yong-Mee Cho" event on June 12 at Stockholm University along with the department of Korean Studies of Stockholm University.
The poet, Yong-Mee Cho, is visiting Sweden from May with the overseas residency program for the writers which is organized by the Korean Arts Council. She started her career by publishing her poems in Han-gil Literature in 1990. She has published collections of poems, including Anxiety Encoaces upon a Soul (1996), Thn Thousand Fish Fly up a Mountain (2000), Self Portrait in Sackcloth (2004), Cherry Blossom in my Cottage (2007), Planet of Memories (2011), My Other Names (2016), and a collection of proses, One Hundred Years staying at an Island (2007). She received Kim Daljin Literary Award (2005) and Kim Junseong Literary Award (2012).
At the event, 9 of her poems were read in both Korean and English which was followed by various discussion on how to write a poem and a creative usage of the languge in literature.
