Korea Sale Festa, the nation's largest shopping festival, began on Nov. 1.
Hosted by the organizing committee of Korea Sale Festa and supported by the government and the country's 17 metropolitan cities and provinces, the sales extravaganza will run until Nov. 15 both off- and online.
A record 2,053 companies are participating in this year's event.
Seventy-four leading companies such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics as well as small and medium businesses are taking part in the household electronics and digital sector. Popular items like TVs, refrigerators and washers have been discounted up to 40%.
Carmakers such as Hyundai Motor and Renault Samsung are offering discounts on major models and gifts for buyers.
Another 29 companies including Hyundai Livart, Jangsoo Industry and Emons are offering a maximum discount of 50% on popular furniture such as beds, sofas, tables and chairs.
In addition, 386 fashion and miscellaneous brands (both online and offline) are giving up to 80% off during "Korea Fashion Market Season 4," and 201 cosmetics companies up to 60% off on popular items and a "1+1" (buy one, get one free) event.
Leading department stores including Lotte, Shinsegae and Hyundai have discounted fashion items and given up to 36% off as well as offering gifts and coupons.
Discount store chains and hypermarkets such as Emart, Home Plus and Lotte Shopping are giving a maximum of 50% off on food, agriculture, livestock and marine products, household electronics and clothing.
And 527 online markets such as Gmarket, 11 Street, Lotte On and Interpark have prepared an event for a maximum discount of 30% and 70%-off coupons.
