The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has officially expressed its gratitude for Seoul's humanitarian assistance as contributing to responses to global complex crises.
The UNDP on May 30 posted a video on YouTube and Instagram showing Administrator Achim Steiner thanking Korea for its support, drawing attention as an unusual gesture toward a single donor country.
"Korea's own inspiring journey from aid recipient to global development leader is a powerful testament to the potential that lies in vision and cooperation," he said. "That same spirit drives UNDP's Seoul Policy Centre, which plays a vital role in sharing Korea's unique development expertise with the world."
Emphasizing the country's humanitarian assistance, Steiner added, "From tackling the climate crisis to shaping digital age, new doors are being unlocked, possibilities are surging, and lives are being transformed because of the generosity and partnership of the Korean people."
"Korea's commitment to multilateralism is a 'beacon of hope' in an interconnected world where peace, stability and progress continue to depend on our ability to come together," he said. "We deeply value our enduring partnership with Korea, spanning its government, private sector and civil society, as we work hand in hand to deliver long-term development solutions that complement urgent humanitarian action."
