At the Korea, China, Japan Art Exchange Exhibition, people can see 110 works of art created by artists with excellent talents, despite being either physically or mentally disabled, as is Son. The exhibition, marking its sixth anniversary this year, will be held from June 23 to June 28 at the Sinsan Gallery on Jeju Island.

The exhibition was designed to enhance the creative capabilities of artists through exchanges among both the disabled artists themselves and among related art organizations from the three countries. It also aims to boost the public’s understanding of art created by those who have some type of disability.
Apart from the exhibition, other various programs are included in this year’s event. There is the “night of artists” where artists can share their vision of the arts and learn from each other, and an award for both Japanese and Chinese artists and their excellent works of art.
A staff member at the exhibition said, “Many of the 30 artworks by Chinese artists show excellent explanation techniques and artistic composition. Many of the 15 works by Japanese painters, however, are abstract paintings or cartoon-like works. Comparing the differences between the works of Japanese and Chinese artists will be a good point to appreciate the exhibition.”
