The Hallyu (Korean Wave)-themed Cheonan K-Culture Expo will kick off on Aug. 11 for a five-day run in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do Province.
The Cheonan city government on Aug. 7 said the event will run from Aug. 11-15 at the Independence Hall of Korea.
Cultural performances, exhibitions and trade forums will be among the events at the expo to shed light on the roots and footsteps of Korean culture and display the development of a new Hallyu culture.
A congratulatory performance by acts such as singer Paul Kim and girl group STAYC is scheduled at the opening ceremony as well as a drone fireworks show.
The second and third days will see a concert of Korean drama soundtracks, domestic musical gala and K-pop dance cover festival.
The K-pop concert "Show! Music Central" is slated for the fourth day with 12 acts like THE BOYZ and OH MY GIRL.
The festival period will also see zones for Hangeul, culture and arts, and interactive zones as well as an exhibition on the exchange of independence movements around the world.
"We will thoroughly prepare to allow a smooth opening ceremony on Aug. 11," said Park Jae-hyeon, director of the municipal government's welfare and culture bureau. "We will prepare a new Hallyu expo that inspires the entire world beyond Korea."
