A worker on Jan. 13 displays garaetteok (cylindrical strands of rice cake) at a tteok (rice cake) store within Jeongja Market in the Jangan-gu District of Suwon, Gyeonggi-do Province, ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays (Jan. 21-24). The strands are cut into coin-shaped pieces for use in tteok guk (rice cake soup) or sliced into thinner strands to make tteokbokki (spicy rice cake).
