Gwacheon National Science Museum in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do Province, from Aug. 12 at 10 p.m. until the early hours of Aug. 13 will show in real time YouTube relay broadcast of a total solar eclipse and the peak of the Perseid meteor shower connecting Spain, Hawaii and Korea.

This broadcast seeks to capture the rare phenomenon of two major astronomical events happening on the same day: the eclipse to cross mainland Spain for the first time in 121 years and the peak of the shower. The latter is expected to take place under optimal conditions with no interference from moonlight for a spectacular display on the night sky.

For this event, the museum will dispatch a live broadcast team to northern Spain to capture the moment when the eclipse completely covers the sun. The livestream will then sequentially connect with Maunakea Observatories in Hawaii, Miryang Arirang Space Observatory in Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, and the Gwacheon museum, offering views of night skies from multiple locations.

The livestream is expected to provide an immersive experience for viewers.
