President Park Geun-hye attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the LG Science Park, part of the Magok industrial park, in Seoul on October 23. When the construction of the science park is completed by 2020, it will consist of 18 research labs on land covering some 170,000 square meters, equivalent to 24 soccer grounds.

"I hope that the LG Science Park will become a hub for research cooperation between small and large companies, so that it can support technological development, joint research and the training of engineers," said the president. "The LG Science Park is evidence of the challenging spirit whereby corporations make bold investments in the future and continue to innovate, even in difficult times."

"There is a saying, that, 'sitting quietly does not lead to a miracle,'" said the president. "

"To survive in a world of fierce competition, it is necessary to have the courage and challenging spirit to compete with different ideas and with creativity in areas untouched by others."
