The Korean government has decided to return by this March the remains of an additional 60 Chinese soldiers who were killed during the Korean War (1950-53). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense announced on January 5 that high-ranking officials had met with their Chinese counterparts to discuss the decision during the second round of Korea-China talks on foreign policy and security issues.

Last March, the Korean government returned the remains of 437 Chinese soldiers, who were subsequently entombed at the Shenyang Korean martyrs cemetery (沈阳抗美援朝烈士陵园).

A representative from the Ministry of Defense said that some 60 more remains of Chinese soldiers were discovered last year, after the previous repatriation, and that the additional remains would be sent home by this March through working-level talks, adding that China expressed its gratitude for this decision.
