On April 12, President Park Geun-hye held a summit with Prince Albert II of Monaco, who is in Korea to attend the seventh World Water Forum 2015 in Daegu.
President Park noted the fact that bilateral trade between the two nations is increasing and hoped that their cooperative relationship would be further expanded through the mutual exchange of information about areas of possible future cooperation.

In response, Prince Albert said that Monaco is ready to expand bilateral exchanges with Korea, including the promotion of investment, and hoped that chambers of commerce in the two nations would actively exchange information and seek new areas for further economic cooperation.
President Park discussed their mutual cooperation on global issues. In particular, the president mentioned that Price Albert has been helping to increase awareness of the severity of climate change through the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which he founded in 2006. The president also said that the two countries would make a joint effort so that a new climate change convention would be successfully launched at the COP21 United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Paris, which will be held between November 30 and December 11 this year.
The president said that Korea is providing support to many developing nations' efforts to respond to climate changes through the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and through the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). President Park said she hoped that mutual cooperation in related fields would be further deepened.
Prince Albert said that Korea is a technological superpower, especially in terms of information technology, and is a model nation that leads many discussions on global issues. The prince said that Monaco is ready to cooperate on climate change issues through the Environmental Integrity Group (EIG), to which both Korea and Monaco belong, as well as other issues.
The prince also said that the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games will be an important chance to raise international interest in the Winter Olympics and said that as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), he would provide support in every way possible for the success of PyeongChang 2018.
