The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it will expand the number of languages on its MERS hotline (109) to 19. The hotline was designed to provide official information about the epidemic for non-Korean speakers residing in Korea or elsewhere.

The ministry began running the hotline in English on June 12 and expanded its services to 19 languages starting at 5 p.m. on June 15. The information about MERS will be provided through an agreement with the Immigration Contact Center (1345), under the Ministry of Justice. Mandarin and Japanese services, expected to be used by a relatively larger number of users, will be provided starting at 9 a.m. on June 18.

The ministry will also offer MERS-related government information in English in its Press Release section at the government's new official website for the outbreak, www.mers.go.kr.
