North Korea's will to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula remains "unchanged, consistent and resolute," said Chairman Kim Jong Un, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on June 1.
Kim made these remarks in a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov who visited Pyeongyang on May 31. Kim added that he hoped that North Korea-U.S. relations and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula would be solved through a new approach, established in a new era where solutions can be found step-by-step.
"The hope is to make progress toward solutions through effective and constructive dialogue and negotiations," he said.
The KCNA reported that Kim and Lavrov discussed matters concerning the Korean Peninsula, and exchanged thoughts on current affairs as well as future prospects.
