President Park Geun-hye will participate in the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on Sept. 2 and 3 in Vladivostok, Russia, and will hold summit talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The EEF has been hosted by the Russian government since 2015. It hopes to attract more investment into the Russian Far East and to boost development across the region. President Park will be the guest of honor at this year’s forum, and the theme is “Opening up the Russian Far East.” She will deliver the keynote speech in the plenary session on Sept. 3. This year’s forum will be attended by leaders and high-profile officials and businesspeople from Japan, China and the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN).

During her visit, President Park will hold a summit meeting with President Putin to discuss measures to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation, and issues involving the Korean Peninsula, such as the North Korean nuclear weapons program and other global issues

Cheong Wa Dae said, “President Park’s upcoming visit to Vladivostok is her first Russian visit at the bilateral relationship level since her inauguration. It is also a reciprocal visit for President Putin’s visit to Korea in November 2013.”

“The two leaders are expected to exchange opinions on various issues of common interest and to offer opportunities to develop the cooperative partnership between Seoul and Moscow in a stable manner,” said the presidential office.
