The central government has announced a plan to focus its support on the 13 hospitals that are housing MERS patients, including the Samsung Medical Center and the Pyeongtaek St. Mary's Hospital, on June 16.
According to the MERS control headquarters, part of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the government will step up its efforts to control the designated 13 hospitals that have been visited by or which house a MERS patient, with the goal of preventing the respiratory disease from spreading. According to this new plan, the ministry will dispatch more workers to the hospitals and maintain treatment and careful watch over the patients until all of them are cured. Not only more people, but more facilities and medical equipment will also be dedicated to the MERS patients.
The hospitals plan to strictly protect non-infected people from having any contact with the infected patients and will make sure they wear respiratory masks and maintain personal hygiene. Staff will also keep an eye on the infected patients under quarantine and prevent anyone from approaching the isolation wards or floors.
