President Park visited China upon the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping from Sept. 2 to 4 to attend an official ceremony on Sept. 3 in honor of China's victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. During her China visit, she held summit talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Foreign media outlets have commented on President Park Geun-hye’s visit to China to attend that country’s victory celebrations, dubbing her visit as the starting point of a new balanced diplomacy for Korea. The Chinese, Japanese, U.S. and European press all analyzed the presidential visit to China and noted how the summit talks between Korean and Chinese leaders achieved great outcomes and heralded the beginning of a new balanced diplomacy for Korea, in the world of Northeast Asian diplomacy, as both leaders agreed to hold a trilateral summit among Korea, China and Japan and they requested an early resumption of the six-party talks.

President Park Geun-hye attended a reopening ceremony for the Provisional Government Building of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai on Sept. 4. During the ceremony, President Park said, “As this year marks the 70th anniversary of Korea’s independence, I believe it is particularly meaningful to attend this reopening ceremony of the building of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai. I would like to thank the Chinese government for contributing to renovating the building.”
