What kind of website is Korea.net?

Korea.net is the official multi-language website of the Korean government.

  1. As the only true gateway of information about Korea, Korea.net, the official web portal of the Korean government, has reinforced its capabilities based on Web 2.0, a new way of thinking about the World Wide Web that enhances information service, global networking and user participation.
  2. Korea.net provides service in nine languages -- English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japaneseㅡ German, French, Russian and Vietnamese-- to narrow the information service gap among regions that use different languages, and to more respond to key issues and strengthen the global network in a more timely way.
  3. Based on user surveys and the latest online trends, Korea.net's new websites in five languages now reflect a universally applicable web identity and have improved online accessibility by redesigning each of the websites based on a customized web style guide, user interface and the needs and preferences of users of different regions.

  1. News Focus provides the latest news and hot issues in Korea, covering a variety of topics including government policy, business, science and technology, society, culture, travel, sports, and people. Archives of each section classify articles by topic.
  2. Daily News is updated by clipping articles from the Korea Times, the Korea International Broadcasting Foundation, CJ E&M, and more.
  3. The section makes full use of SNS channels by expanding the 'share' function and adding a 'comment' function to increase reader participation.

Information on major festivals and exhibitions in Korea

  1. Updates are given on major festivals, exhibitions, performances, and other events in Korea. The Overseas menu, which retrieves content from the "Korea from Overseas" section in the previous website, delivers news about diplomatic offices and Korean cultural centers abroad and is available in several languages.

Our e-library offers publications, slides, videos, and other digital materials. The e-library provides information about a wide range of useful Korea-related websites divided into broad categories

  1. The section is classified into two categories: the Publications section -- where readers can download a variety of periodicals and publications on Korea -- and the Multimedia section dedicated to presenting photo news along with videos and other materials for public relations. The videos are downloadable in PDF, FLV, MOV, and WMV formats.
  2. The Website Directory is sorted into eight categories -- Arts & Culture, Business & Economy, Government, News & Media, Science & Technology, Society & Life, Sports & Entertainment, and Tourism -- offering a brief description of the relevant organizations along with a directory of links connecting towards over 570 websites of relevant organizations.
  3. The Useful Info section gathers all kinds of practical knowledge about Korea including the most requested items on Korea.net, different scales of maps, a Foreign Exchange Calculator, Reservation Assistance, and Helpful Telephone Numbers.
  4. The SNS channels of Korea.net are all available in the Social Media menu.
  5. Newsletters published by Korea.net are available on the webpage as well as by subscription.

  1. Information about the president and government news can be found in this section. The administration category provides profiles of the president and first lady and introduces the roles of the government and enforcement agencies in implementing policies.
  2. The Current Affairs section provides up-to-date information on national issues and policies, including public statements and official decisions by the Korean government with regard to international affairs. Arranged chronologically, this section allows quick and easy access to the latest news.
  3. The Briefing Room collects press releases, summit diplomacy, and presidential speeches published by the national and regional governments.

A brief introduction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as organizations under the Ministry such as the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS), Overseas Korea Centers (Korean Cultural Centers, Culture and Information Officers).

This website introduces the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS). The website provides information on the organization's history, mission, staff, and overseas offices.
