Pop star G-Dragon is ready to meet his fans once again, not with songs this time, but with artwork.

The “Peace Minus One: Beyond the Stage” exhibition, slated to kick off June 9 at the Seoul Museum of Art in central Seoul, will showcase more than 200 works of art, whether they be installation, sculpture, photographs or painting. The works were all created in collaboration with the singer and 12 other artists from both at home and abroad.

The upcoming ‘Peace Minus One: Beyond the Stage’ exhibit features joint works by singer G-Dragon and contemporary artists.

The 12 artists featured include Michael Scoggins, Sophie Clements from the U.S., James Clar and Quayola, both from London, and Fabien Verschaere from France, along with domestic counterparts such as Kwon Oh-sang, Bang Aenri and Jin Ki-jong.

For the exhibition, the iconic singer spent about a year with the artists coming up with ideas on how the consonance between pop culture and modern art can create something noble and something new.

The exhibit consists of four sections. The first part spotlights G-Dragon's personal collection of artwork, including works by French architect Jean Prouvé and Britain-born artists Tracey Emin and Jason Martin. His collection features costumes with special stories behind them and, also, the singer’s own designs, too.

The second part of the exhibit combines music and dance with a set of artworks to create “creative harmony” between modern art and pop music.

The third session, entitled “Dialog and Communication Between G-Dragon and Visual Artists,” reinterprets the singer’s musical feelings and agonies and turns his view of the world into art.

Lastly, G-Dragon will take on his original role as a musician. A blurred image of his figure is projected onto a screen with a low-pitch, deep monologue playing behind it. The figure starts singing and talking to the world along with the tune.

The “Peace Minus One” in the title of the exhibition reflects a time when a “peaceful” world would exist, the singer’s goal, and compares it to reality which is full of “minuses” or is lacking much. His hope is that they two will become “one.”

“The title represents the logo of my album and, also, my other name,” said the singer. “The exhibition embraces different looks, looks that have long been hidden in myself. Browsing the works on display here, you can see the human Kwon Ji-yong [his real name] and can look closer and deeper into the inner aspects and thoughts of the singer G-Dragon, from more different points of view as well,” he added.

The exhibition will go on tour and reach out to wider audiences in Shanghai and then Singapore. The Seoul show will continue until August 23.
