The K-pop group Bangtan Boys (BTS) was named as one of The New York Times’ top 50 artists that Americans love the most on Aug. 7.

In the feature article “What Music Do Americans Love the Most? 50 Detailed Fan Maps,” The New York Times said that BTS came in as number 44. BTS is the only artist from Asia that made the list.

The New York Times introduced BTS as “one of K-pop’s most famous boy bands,” and said that the group is “especially popular in Hawaii and parts of California, along with a curious pocket of fandom in northern Wisconsin.”

According to the newspaper, these 50 artists are those who made it into the Billboard Top 100 this spring and most have some of the most-watched videos on YouTube in the U.S. from January 2016 to April 2017.

The first on the list was hip-hop artist Future and the second was pop singer Rihanna. Lady GaGa and Metallica ranked 45th and 50th, following BTS.
