K-pop sensations BTS and BLACKPINK have been nominated for "Person of the Year" of the U.S. Time magazine.

The magazine on Nov. 25 began online voting for the nominees, which include the two groups.

Topping the Billboard Hot 100 in August, the BTS hit "Dynamite" on Nov. 24 made Korean and Asian pop music history by becoming the first Asian act to receive a Grammy nomination.

BLACKPINK last month released its first regular album "The Album," which climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Artist 100.

The girl group's music video for "DDU-DU DDU-DU" is the first in K-pop history to attract 1.4 billion views. BLACKPINK has 53.6 million YouTube subscribers, trailing only Justin Bieber among musical acts worldwide.

Other nominees for Time's honor include U.S. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, the first woman, Black person and South Asian American elected to her position, outgoing U.S. President Donald Trump and Alibaba founder Jack Ma.

The magazine will announce the winner on Dec.10.
