President Moon Jae-in will visit New York for the U.N. General Assembly from Sept. 18 to 22.

While in New York, President Moon will express the status of the Republic of Korea in regard to various issues, including North Korean nuclear weapons issues and various other global issues.

He will begin his itinerary by meeting with U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Sep. 18 (local time), the first day of his New York trip.

The next day, he will meet with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach. On the same day, he will also attend a ceremony where he will be awarded the 2017 Global Citizen Awards from the Atlantic Council, a U.S. think tank.

On Sept. 20, President Moon will hold a meeting with business leaders in New York and with the Korea Society, a group composed of diplomats and other honorees. He will attend a promotional event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, as well.

President Moon will deliver the keynote address at the U.N. General Assembly on Sept. 21 where he will call for international support and cooperation in order to resolve the North Korean nuclear weapons issues.

He will introduce the policy priorities and directions of his new government, speaking to heads of states from about 160 countries, and reaffirm Seoul’s will to contribute to solving global issues that include climate change and poverty.

During his New York visit, President Moon will hold a trilateral meeting involving U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. He will hold a series of bilateral summits with other leaders, too, including the U.S. and Italy.

Prior to President Moon’s departure for New York, Cheong Wa Dae said earlier on Sept. 18 that, “President Moon will gather support from the international community in regard to Seoul’s stance toward Pyongyang, and he will also emphasize that Korea is sure to successfully host the upcoming PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and ensure that they are truly 'peace Olympics.'"
