President Moon Jae-in and his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, on a state visit to Korea, paid a visit to Camp Humphreys, a U.S. military base in Korea, in Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do Province, on Nov. 7. This is the first official state visit by a U.S. president to Korea in 25 years.

After a tour of the military installation, the two leaders offered words of encouragement to both Korean and U.S. soldiers while having lunch with them.

Flanked by U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, U.S. National Security Advisor Herbert McMaster and Commander General Vincent Brooks of the Republic of Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command, President Moon quoted the saying that, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”

“The U.S. military servicemen and women are our 'friends indeed,' who bled together when our nation was in need. You are the firm cornerstone and the future of the Korea-U.S. alliance. I hope that we can work together for peace and security, not only on the Korean Peninsula, but also across Northeast Asia,” he said.

Referring to issues involving North Korea, its nuclear weapons and its ballistic missile programs, President Trump said, “Ultimately, it will all work out. It always works out. It has to work out. There is great cooperation between Seoul and Washington.”
