President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un finished the first session of their summit, lasting 100 minutes from 10:15 a.m. to 11:55 a.m.

Presidential Senior Secretary for Public Relations Yoon Young-chan said during a press briefing in Panmunjeom that, “The two leaders had continual frank talks the whole time, especially about the establishment of denuclearization and permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula, as well as about ways to develop the inter-Korean relationship.”

The leaders agreed to continue working-level negotiations so as to create a joint statement and to jointly announce the statement after an official signing, the secretary said. “Kim’s wife, Ri Sol Ju, will arrive in Panmunjeom at around 6:15 p.m. today. The leaders and their wives will have a brief conversation at the Peace House and then attend the banquet,” Yoon added.
