President Moon Jae-in and Kazakh President Kassym Jomart Tokayev on April 22 pledged to jointly work on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

In a bilateral summit at Ak Orda Presidential Palace in Nursultan, Kazakhstan, both leaders discussed enhancing bilateral relations and cooperating for peace and prosperity on the peninsula and Central Asia.

President Moon in the summit told his counterpart of the recent situation and peace process on the peninsula and thanked Kazakhstan for its "constant" support.

Tokayev expressed his nation's full backing for Seoul's efforts toward inter-Korean peace.



Both leaders also discussed promoting co-prosperity by connecting Korea's New Northern Policy with Kazakhstan’s national development strategy.

"Kazakhstan is a crucial partner in the New Northern Policy," President Moon said, "By connecting the policy with the national development strategy Kazakhstan-2050, we hope to promote joint development and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and Eurasia."

Afterwards, the two presidents in a signing ceremony signed a joint statement on their summit and seven memorandums of understanding on raising cooperation in areas like the Fourth Industrial Revolution, space exploration and health care.
