Pyeongchang is an alpine county and a haven for winter sports that receives an abundance of snowfall each year. Throughout the winter, the county holds a festival of snow, ice and trout fishing on a 33,000-square-meter lot situated 700 meters above sea level.
At the eighth Pyeongchang Trout Festival, visitors can catch a trout with their bare hands on the clear ice. A ticket for the entire day goes for a reasonable price. They can also taste raw trout that lived in the clean waters of Odaesan Mountain, either on the spot or after broiling.
In addition to fishing, visitors can enjoy a snow sculpture competition. The festival features ice fishing, hand fishing, sleigh riding, skating, ATV riding, snow rafting and more.
