1. The government of the Republic of Korea is conducting outreach activities for member states of major international organizations and countries in various regions with the aim to promote the key outcomes of the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit held on March 26-27.


2. Hahn Choong-hee, the ROK’s Sous-Sherpa for the Summit, visited Vienna, Austria, on April 12 to explain to member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) the key accomplishments and the contribution of the Seoul Summit to strengthening the international nuclear security regime. The session was also attended by the Sous-Sherpas of the US and the Netherlands, the respective hosts of the first and the third Summits.


3. In addition, in Prague on April 17, Sous-Sherpa Hahn attended the Prague Agenda Conference on nuclear energy, an annual event hosted by the Czech government in commemoration of US President Obama’s Prague address in April 2009. He also took part in the 3rd Annual Dialogue on Nuclear Challenges in Southeast Asia held by the US Stimson Center in Kuala Lumpur on April 18-19. In both meetings, he explained to the participating European and Asian countries the achievements of the Seoul Summit as well as ways to implement measures agreed upon at the Summit.


4. The ROK government is planning to conduct such outreach activities for UN member states in the first half of the year as well as on the occasion of the 1st Preparatory Committee Meeting for the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference to be held in Vienna, Austria, late this month as well as the UN General Assembly meeting and the IAEA General Conference in September.
