The opening ceremony for the 2016 Seoul International Writers' Festival is held on Sept. 26, where 28 writers from Korea and elsewhere will show off their works.

Twenty-eight promising writers from Korea and elsewhere have gathered in Seoul. The Literature Translation Institute of Korea is hosting the 2016 Seoul International Writers' Festival from Sept. 2 to Oct. 1 in the Daehangno neighborhood of Seoul. Starting in 2006, the festival marks its sixth anniversary this year.

There are 14 Korean writers at the festival, including Kim Kyeong-uk, Jeong Yu-jeong, Cheong Myeong-gwan and Kim Tae-jun. The non-Korean writers include U.S. writer Daivd Vann, famous for his book "Legend of a Suicide," ethnic Korean Chinese writer Geum Hui, who received the Shin dong-yeop Literary Award, Colombian novelist Santiago Gamboa and French poet Linda Maria Baros, who has won the Guillaume Apollinaire Prize.

Under the theme this year of "The Forgotten and the Unforgettable," the festival comprises of two main parts. The first is the Free Talks section between writers where one Korean writer and one non-Korean writer form a team and talk about their works. The other is the Reading & Performance section where a variety of performances will be shown using the artworks of the 28 writers.

The Free Talks section will be held at Space Feelux, on the first floor of the Arko Art Center, and the Reading & Performance section will be held at the Daehakro Arts Theater Third Hall.

Readers can also participate in the programs, talk to the writers and enjoy the performances. Admission is available at the Yes24 (www.yes24.co.kr) and Naver (http://booking.naver.com) websites. You can also just visit the venue itself without applying beforehand. Schedules are provided at the website of the Seoul International Writers' Festival.
