The induction ceremony for this year's Honorary Reporters on May 20 was held with limited attendance due to the coronavirus pandemic. I was lucky to be one of the 12 Honorary Reporters invited to represent the Philippines.

The theme of this year's ceremony was "Discover K-Healing," reflecting the role of Korean content in helping the world heal amid social distancing brought on by the coronavirus.

Korea.net livestreamed the program on its official YouTube channel. Those watching could write comments live, and some were read by the event's two hosts, Hana Lee from Korea and Elena Kubitzki from Germany.

Honorary Reporter Salwa El-zeny from Egypt was excited after hearing a video message from first lady Kim Jung-sook, who quoted the Egyptian and mentioned her name.

As one of the 12 attendees, I had fun seeing both old and new Honorary Reporters. As fun as this event was, I wished that COVID-19 didn't happen so that we could've all gathered like last year, when the ceremony was held at Cheong Wa Dae with the first lady attending.

This is the start of my third year as an Honorary Reporter. The past two years were filled with many events and memories, and I look forward to another year of discovering more about Korea under the theme "Discover K-Healing."

Check out my video on what went on behind the scenes in the ceremony:
