The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) of the U.S., the world's largest trade fair for household electronics and information technology, will see this year a record number of Korean companies participating.

The Korea Information and Communication Technology Industry Association on Jan. 4 said 500 domestic companies from Jan. 5-7 will participate in the annual event in Las Vegas.

The nation's two leading companies Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will attend. Others include Hyundai Motor Group's leading affiliates including Hyundai Motor and Hyundai Mobis; six leading subsidiaries of SK Group such as SK Telecom, SK Hynix and SK On; and major companies from Doosan Group like Doosan Corp., Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction, Doosan Bobcat and Doosan Fuel Cell.

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee is the lone Korean executive to deliver a keynote speech at the show's opening ceremony. Under the theme "Together for Tomorrow," he will explain his company's customized service through "connection" encompassing household electronics and mobiles, as well as the company's philosophy.

Samsung Electronics will showcase its newest TV products -- Micro LED, Neo QLED and Lifestyle TV – that focus on screens with personalized options. It will also unveil the smartphone Galaxy S21 Fan Edition, whose debut was canceled in last year's second half due to the global supply disruption of semiconductors.

LG Electronics will unveil LG Omnipod, a mobility concept solution featuring a futuristic self-driving car based on artificial intelligence. The vehicle can be used as not only an office but also a personal entertainment space including for movies, exercise and camping.

Hyundai Motor will debut its new Plug & Drive (PnD) robotic module platform for use in various methods of mobility. The company will also show off its expanded robot product lineup including Mobile Eccentric Droid (MobED), a small-sized mobility platform; PnD Modul Mobility; and Boston Dynamics' Spot and AtlasTM.

Marking its 55th anniversary this year, CES this time will be held offline for the first time in two years as last year's edition was done online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will attract an estimated 2,200 companies from around the world.
