The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) on July 27 said they will jointly host a "new space seminar" with three Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The event's purpose is to boost cooperation in emerging and cutting-edge technologies and help domestic space companies advance to the global market.
The seminar was organized in collaboration with 16 domestic space companies in diverse fields including launch vehicles, satellite development, satellite image analysis and space medicine.
The first event is slated for July 28 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and others will follow on July 31 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Aug. 4 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Expected to attend the seminar are high-ranking officials from the space-related departments of governments and organizations and representatives from 28 space companies from the four countries. They will seek mutual understanding of their space policies and discuss the potential for collaboration with Korean companies.
Prior to the seminar, the ministry and KASA held a videoconference with Korean diplomatic missions abroad and the space agencies of the three Southeast Asian countries on the direction of each government's space policy and Seoul's cooperation goals. Such information was provided in advance to domestic companies.
To reflect the needs of Korean companies, the seminar will also include individual consultations with the government institutions and companies of each country.
