People from around the world who love taekwondo are enjoying a special opportunity to exchange and share their sport in Muju, Jeollabuk-do Province (South Jeolla Province).

The Taekwondowon, a global center for the martial art, in Muju is hosting the World Taekwondo Culture Expo, a festival for taekwondo lovers from around the world. It runs from July 10 to July 15 under the slogan, “For World Taekwondo Dream in Expo.”

Divided into both adults and youth, approximately 1,800 athletes from 28 countries displayed their taekwondo abilities in forms (poomsae, 품새), competitions (gyeorugi, 겨루기) and in international competitions by country.

Expo participants will visit Bandiland, a firefly- and insect-themed amusement park, in Muju County, the Hanok village in Jeonju and the Saemangeum Seawall. They will also have the opportunity to learn about pungmul, a genre of percussion-based folk music.
