The national team has finished with 30 medals after 12 days of the Paris Summer Paralympics.


The Games' closing ceremony was held on Sept. 8 at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris. A combined 4,567 athletes from 169 countries from Aug. 28 vied for 549 gold medals in 22 events.

Korea's 177-member delegation included 83 athletes (46 men and 37 women) in 17 events and finished 22nd in the overall medal standings. The team exceeded its original goal of five gold by winning six, finishing with 30 medals including 10 silver and 14 bronze.

Korea thus won six gold in the Paralympics for the first time since the 2016 Rio Games.

Thanks to Jeong Howon winning the men's individual title, the boccia team won a gold in its 10th consecutive Paralympics.


In shooting, Park Jinho won the gold in both the R1 men's 10-m standing air rifle (SH1) and R7 men's 50-m three positions rifle. Jo Jeongdu also struck gold in the P1 men's 10-m air pistol (SH1).

Making her Paralympic debut, wheelchair fencer Kwon Hyo Kyeong won the silver in the women's individual epee (A), Korea's first medal in the sport in 28 years since earning a bronze at the 1996 Atlanta Games.

In addition, Won Yoo-min, a Korean Canadian Nordic skier, was introduced at the closing ceremony as a new member of the Athletes' Council of the International Paralympic Committee.
