The National Fire Agency of Korea dispatched a delegation to Cambodia from Dec. 10 to 15 to share its firefighting technology and knowhow with first responders in the country.

The 13-strong delegation was composed of three teams that focus on education, equipment check-up and management, and technical support. They ran an educational program for about 100 firefighters from the country’s fire departments. The program included how to extinguish fires and manage emergency rescues and ambulances, and included both theoretical and practical training.

The National Fire Agency has been providing free check-up support, especially for used fire trucks, to a total of 11 countries, including Cambodia and the Philippines, since 2005. Starting in 2015, the agency has been dispatching delegations to Cambodia and Vietnam to share technological expertise.

Director of the agency Jung Byoung-do said, “I hope we can contribute to advancing Cambodia’s capability in terms of firefighting and its overall safety environment through continued cooperation on fire truck inspections and by sharing firefighting technology.”
