The two Koreas have agreed to launch a pilot program to exchange information on contagious diseases, expanding cooperation in the health sector.

The agreement was made between the two sides during a meeting held at the joint liaison office in the border town of Gaeseong on Nov. 7.

The two sides agreed to share information on the diagnosis and prevention of fatal diseases and to cooperate on medical technology through routine meetings.

Moreover, the two sides will actively seek other health-related projects and cooperate through the liaison office.

The meeting, held as a follow-up measure to the Pyeongyang Joint Declaration, was attended by Vice Minister of Health and Welfare Kwon Deokcheol and his North Korean counterpart Pak Myong-su, and their respective delegations.
