The Korean government has published an English-language guide to its response to the COVID-19 pandemic through innovative technology, with demand for such information on the rise worldwide.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance on April 15 announced its publication of "Flattening the Curve on COVID-19" for distribution, its second guide produced since "Tackling COVID-19" came out on March 26 at the request of the World Bank.

The ministry said the latest guide was made at the request of member nations of the Group of 20 leading economies and international organizations like the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The 90-page book includes detailed information on the country's social distancing guidelines, the technology-powered approach of the "3 t's" -- testing, tracing and treatment -- and use of data-driven measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The ministry said the guide focuses on how the country has harnessed information and communications technologies and artificial intelligence to combat COVID-19 that have received major global interest.

Put together through cooperation among the Finance Ministry, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the guide will be distributed abroad to Korea's diplomatic offices abroad, foreign governments, international organizations and foreign media. Teleconferences with major nations and organizations are also in the works on topics such as Korea's quarantine measures, public health and economic responses.
