The nightscape of Bomun Tourist Complex in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, the host city of this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in late October, will undergo extensive improvement.
The Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture and Tourism Organization (GCTO) on June 15 announced the project to ensure a successful hosting of the summit in Gyeongju as well as promote the complex, which marks its 50th anniversary this year, as an international tourist attraction.
Gold-colored street lamps, tree lights and bollards will be installed near lodging for leaders of APEC member states to represent the "golden city of Gyeongju."

Yukbuchon, a Hanok (traditional house) that houses the GCTO and was Korea's first international convention center, will display a media facade and an illuminated square.
A symbolic sculpture at the entrance of the complex will feature the theme "Gyeongju's Ring of Light Connects the World."
GCTO President Kim Nam-il said, "For the 2025 APEC Summit, we will promote to the world Gyeongju's beautiful night and plan to contributing to regional tourism development through content featuring sustainable night tourism."
