Arriving on customers' doorsteps worldwide, no one ever wonders where it comes from, or even which company makes it. That is the fate of the packing box.

It is more than a mere cover, for it protects the contents and also helps with marketing. Although its life as a packaging box ends as soon as the consumer buys and opens it, each box has a depth of technology specific to its needs.

One of the most representative products is the block liner, mainly used to package seafood. Freshly caught fish need to be separated into layers or into sections when boxed. To keep the goods safe, liners need to be 100% waterproof and durable down to temperatures of -40 degrees Celsius without changing or breaking. The global block liner market was once monopolized by a Danish company, but with Won Chang's self-developed technology, it has proven its quality and is now continuously used by one of the largest U.S. seafood companies.

Director Park Sang-hyun said that, "U.S. corporate customers praise our block liner, saying that it maintains its form so it is of reusable quality. We have so much confidence in our self-developed technology that we can keep our factory doors open for tours from our competitors."

Director Park said, "We strive for customer satisfaction by lowering the price through improvements in efficiency and for technological advancement so that we can make specifically tailored products.

"Recently, to make colored boxes, we've applied direct printing technology for the first time in Korea. We were able to reduce the production price by 30 percent.

"Starch from corn and other substances can be used as adhesives in corrugated cardboard. Boxes produced using direct printing are best suited to pack health conscious foods and baby-related products."
