Marking its second year, Fashion KODE 2014 opened on July 16 in Yangjae-dong, southern Seoul.

Fashion KODE 2014 is a clothing and fashion fair where people can learn more about the latest sartorial trends in Korea and purchase their favorite pieces at pop-up stores and booths. Participating brands can also meet with as many as 400 buyers a day, giving them the opportunity to sign new business contracts.

A total of 120 brands are participating in the fair this year, held under the theme of, “Wearing Culture.” Among them, 27 brands will run a total of 33 fashion shows over the event's three-day run.

Members of popular boy band EXO -- Chanyeol, Sehun, Tao, Lay, Chen and Kai -- acting as PR ambassadors for the exhibition, showed up on stage wearing accessories and pieces from participating brands. The opening ceremony also featured influential figures from the fashion and cultural sectors. There was Council of Fashion Designers of Korea President and designer Lie Sang-bong, Korea Creative Content Agency President & CEO Hong Sang-pyo and Shin Yongeon, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Korea Creative Content Agency President & CEO Hong Sang-pyo said, “With EXO, a leader of Korean fashion, on the runway, the Fashion KODE 2014 has now kicked off. This is an event which all visitors, as well as fashion industry people, can share and enjoy.”

Lee Sung-hoon of REVEZEBRA, a new-comer to this year’s fair, said, “For newer brands like us, Fashion KODE 2014 gives us an opportunity to check how real-world buyers will respond to our clothes and to compare that with the responses we got online. We also hope to use this opportunity to introduce our brand to overseas buyers.”
