The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea National University of Arts (KNUA) through March 31 will hold an online "hope concert" in response to people not going out amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The university will upload the performance videos of professors, students and graduates of music, dance and traditional arts majors on its website (www.karts.ac.kr), its Naver TV channel KNUA Art Theater (https://tv.naver.com/karts) and its YouTube channel K-Arts TV (www.youtube.com/user/KARTSPR).

The videos are five to 10 minutes long and will be uploaded twice a day, with all 30 videos to be posted within 15 days.

Culture Minister Park Yang-woo on March 10 met the concert's performers at the university, saying, "Through the online concert, I hope the artists can continue their concert activities and the people can enjoy culture."

The concert began on March 11 with a video performance of the Choi Ok-sam school's gayageum (zither) sanjo (a type of Korean music featuring an instrumental solo accompanied by the traditional drum janggu) performed by gayageum masters Kim Hae-sook and Yu Kyung-hwa.

Short films will also be posted along with the videos.
