A huge signboard on the wall of Seoul Metropolitan Library in the capital's Jung-gu District on March 20 shows the names of 55 fallen soldiers two days before the ninth West (Yellow) Sea Defense Day. First observed in 2016, the official commemorative day honors the military personnel who died in the Second Battle of Yeonpyeongdo Island in 2002, sinking of the Republic of Korea Navy vessel Cheonan in March 2010 and bombing of Yeonpyeongdo in November that year.
