A film crew from NBC shoots actor Jonathan Bennett on the ski jump platform atop the Alpensia Ski Jumping Center in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do Province, on Feb. 2.

A film crew from NBC, the U.S. broadcaster of next year's PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, has visited Pyeongchang in Gangwon-do Province, one of the three host cities for the next Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

On Feb. 2, the crew filmed athletes running through their final practice runs at the Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Center as they geared up for the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, a test event for next year's Olympics that will run from Feb. 3 to 5 this month.

U.S. actor Jonathan Bennett was part of the crew, too, as host for the footage they'll film here in Gangwon-do. The actor had a chance to learn from U.S. cross-country skier Andrew Newell, and to try some cross-country skiing himself alongside the U.S. Olympian.

As the NBC cameras roll, U.S. actor Jonathan Bennett learns how to cross-country ski from U.S. cross-country Olympian Andrew Newell, at the Alpensia Cross-Country Center in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do Province, on Feb. 1.

“It’s super fun!” said the actor, who's visiting Korea for the first time. With the cameras rolling and surrounded by white snow-capped peaks, the actor listened carefully as the skier explained to him the characteristics of cross-country skiing and how to properly use cross-country skis.

A first-timer, Bennett said, “It’s way more difficult than I imagined,” as he tried to pole through the snow-covered fields. During filming, however, the grin on his face never wavered.

A winter wonderland unfolds from below the ski jump stand atop the Alpensia Ski Jumping Center in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do Province, the host city for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in February next year.

On Feb. 2, the team moved to the Alpensia Ski Jumping Center, one of next year's Olympic venues. This month, it's scheduled to host the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup from Feb. 4 to 5, and then the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup from Feb. 15 to 16.

“It’s so high. The wind is so strong!” said Bennett, who looked a bit shocked by the dizzying height as he stood atop the ski jump platform. He kept saying, “It’s amazing!” as he took in the snowscape unfolding below.

Starting on Mar. 5, NBC will broadcast a total of five clips shot in Gangwon-do every week, on the "Today Show" and on "Late Night with Seth Meyers." The clips are around two minutes and 30 seconds each. With the footage, U.S. audiences will be able to see just how far preparations for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Games have gotten, as well as marvel at the beauty of Gangwon-do's mountains.
